MAGAZINE DESIGNER & EDITOR
Role Description
Are you a creative storyteller with a passion for content creation and a keen eye for design? Do you have a knack for organizing captivating visuals and compelling stories that keep readers engaged? Join us as our Volunteer Magazine Designer & Editor! You’ll be at the heart of designing and editing an impactful magazine publication that resonates with our community.
This is a volunteer Magazine Designer & Editor role with the Canadian Celiac Association British Columbia. The Magazine Designer & Editor will be responsible for tasks such as layout, writing, editing submissions from volunteer contributors, working with advertisers, and content creation. This volunteer opportunity will enhance your design and communications portfolio.
About the Role
As our volunteer Magazine Designer & Editor, you’ll oversee the development of a quarterly digital publication that also has a limited print-run. The Magazine is aimed at bringing awareness to our mission and sharing valuable stories, updates, and resources. Coordinating the efforts of a team of dedicated volunteers and contributors, you'll bring fresh ideas to life while ensuring high-quality content and a seamless layout.
Qualifications
1. Experience in graphic design and communications
2. Passion for creating engaging magazine content
3. Strong organizational and time management skills
4. Ability to work independently and collaboratively
5. Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities
6. Previous experience in magazine editing is a plus
7. Proficiency in design tools like Canva, with an understanding of creating accessible layouts and visuals that appeal to broad audiences, including considerations for colour contrast, font readability, and visual accessibility.
