Celiac Awareness Month

Recipe Contest
Help us spread the word about how tasty gluten-free can be! Send us your favourite original gluten-free recipes and you'll be entered to win one of four $50 gift cards! Submissions will be combined into a yummy e-book to be shared!

Weekly Themes:
  1. Breakfast recipes - deadline May 7th at 11:59 PM PST
  2. Lunch recipes - deadline May 14th at 11:59 PM PST
  3. Dinner recipes - deadline May 21st at 11:59 PM PST
  4. Dessert recipes - deadline May 28th at 11:59 PM PST

Youth Prize: If your recipe was created by someone 12 and under, let us know! At the end of Week 4, we'd like to give a special prize to recognize the culinary talents of one of our younger celiacs.

Contest rules:
  • Original recipes only.
  • Submit to gfrecipes@bcceliac.ca by the deadline indicated above.
  • Please include a photo of your creation, and a short background story about your recipe (e.g., how you converted a family favourite recipe to make it gluten-free).
  • Please indicate how you'd like your name to be displayed (e.g. first and last name, first name and last initial, or anonymous).
  • Weekly winners must be 18 years of age or older, and residents of Canada. Entries for the youth prize need to come from a parent or guardian. 
  • Maximum 1 submission per person per week.
  • Winners will be able to pick an online gift card of their choosing.
  • By entering, you give the Canadian Celiac Association British Columbia permission to share your recipe online and in print media.

​Time to get creative! Adults aren't the only ones with celiac disease, and we're looking to our children's community to help us spread awareness.

Contest Rules:
  • Open to children ages 12 and under.
  • Submit a drawing that promotes celiac disease awareness to celiackidsconnect@bcceliac.ca by May 28th.
  • Submissions must be from a parent or guardian 18 years of age or older. Residents of Canada only.
  • By entering, you give the Canadian Celiac Association British Columbia permission to share your image online and in print media.
  • ​Our Board of Directors will choose a winner for a special prize.

Children's Meetup Group
Date: May 26
Time: 6:30 PM PST

This event is for members only.

To commemorate Celiac Awareness Month, Cup4Cup has generously agreed to sponsor this event for our members ages 5-12. Each registrant will receive a Cup4Cup brownie mix that we will bake together while we catch up & connect.

To ensure there is time to get the product to each registrant, we ask that you please register by May 12. A zoom link will be provided once you have registered.

Save Me For Gluten Free
Looking for a way to give back? Many people rely on the support of food banks, an issue that has been brought to the forefront due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The Canadian Celiac Association wants to ensure that gluten-free food is readily available to all those who need it.
Consider donating a bag of dedicated gluten-free items to your local food bank during Celiac Awareness Month. Print off a Save Me for Gluten Free decal and message to place on the bag to ensure the food bank knows how to handle the donation.

Spread the word on social media and make sure to tag us! We hope to maximize our impact by getting as many involved as possible.
